Highlight of the Week
Splashing good fun is on the cards at the Night of the Rafts at Sigulda's town beach on the Gauja River.
River rafting is recognised as a Living Latvian tradition, and revellers will be able to have a go with the pole at the party. Chow down on traditional raftsmen's soup and enjoy folk music by ensemble Putni, bard Juris Kaukulis and accordion maestro Andris Muižnieks. Saturday June 13, 21:00-23:59, entry 2.50 euros.

The Zuzeum contemporary art centre opens its summer season with a dance party on the terrace. Groove to bachata, salsa kizomba rhythms and refresh yourself at the rooftop bar.

Expand your mind at the Ecosystemic Alternative Culture Festival on the Grand Stage in Mežaparks. The two-day event blends sound, movement and visuals, as dozens of musicians, graphic artists and even puppet masters blur boundaries. Denmark's Of the Wand and the Moon are just one of many local and international genre benders. June 12-13, 17:00-24:00, tickets from 40 euros.
